Comparing PBR and CIR for Bluetooth® Channel Sounding

Many developers rely on Phase-Based Ranging (PBR), a method referenced by the Bluetooth SIG, which works well in ideal conditions. However, PBR struggles in multipath environments, where reflected signals interfere with accuracy. To overcome these challenges, Metirionic Advanced Ranging Stack (MARS) utilizes Channel Impulse Response (CIR)-based ranging, a technique that reconstructs the entire signal path to separate direct signals from reflections.

💡 How does CIR outperform PBR?
💡 What makes MARS the optimal choice for real-world applications?

In our latest article, we dive deep into the technical differences between PBR and CIR, exploring their strengths, limitations, and the best use cases for each.
