Channel Sounding Evaluation Application

Real-Time Distance Monitoring with Bluetooth® Technology

Our Channel Sounding Evaluation Application is a powerful tool that enables real-time monitoring of distance measurements using Bluetooth® Channel Sounding technology. Paired with Metirionic’s Advanced Ranging Stack (MARS), this application facilitates continuous distance assessments between an initiator and a reflector development kit, providing users with detailed insights into signal paths and environmental interactions.

Channel Sounding Evaluation Application

Software and Firmware on GitHub

The Metirionic Channel Sounding Evaluation Kit is now distributed through the official Metirionic GitHub organization.

This gives developers direct access to the latest firmware source code, precompiled firmware images, documentation, release notes, and future updates.

The Channel Sounding firmware is available as open source under the MIT License, including precompiled firmware images for quick evaluation. The Metirionic PC Evaluation Application is provided separately and requires an activation key (license), which can be requested by contacting contact@metirionic.com.

Channel Sounding Firmware for Nordic nRF54L15

The firmware for supported Nordic nRF54L15-based development boards is available in the following repository:

The repository supports two evaluation approaches:

  • Flash precompiled firmware for a quick start without setting up a development environment.
  • Build the firmware from source to customize the firmware or integrate it into your own development workflow.

Channel Sounding requires two compatible boards: one configured as the initiator and one as the reflector. The repository contains firmware variants and documentation for both roles.

PC Evaluation Application

The Metirionic PC Evaluation Application provides a graphical interface for real-time visualization of Bluetooth® Channel Sounding measurements, data recording, and result export.

Nordic nRF54L15‑DK

The nRF54L15 Development Kit supports all three SoC options in Nordic’s nRF54L Series and is fully compatible with Metirionic’s MARS for high-accuracy Bluetooth® Channel Sounding and advanced ranging. It provides an ideal platform for evaluating RTLS, asset tracking, and industrial IoT applications.

Minewsemi ME54BE01 Development Board with nRF54L15-ME54BS01
Metirionic’s MARS is available on the Minewsemi ME54BS01 and ME54BS03 modules, enabling Bluetooth® Channel Sounding with advanced ranging features. This compact and versatile module is well-suited for RTLS, asset tracking, and industrial IoT applications.
There’s the ME54BE01 Development Board for easy evaluation and seamless integration. It is compatible with both the nRF54L15-ME54BS01 (PCB Antenna) and nRF54L15-ME54BS03 (U.FL Connector) modules.

Raytac AN54LQ-DB-15

Metirionic’s MARS integrates with the Raytac AN54LQ-DB-15 development board, enabling high-accuracy Bluetooth® Channel Sounding and advanced ranging. This platform provides a solid foundation for RTLS, asset tracking, and industrial IoT solutions. AN54LQ-DB-15 demo board is designed for quick testing and debugging without building your own board. The board is available with AN54LQ-15 (Chip Antenna), AN54LQ-P15 (PCB Antenna), and AN54LQ-U15 (u.FL Connector) modules.

Ezurio BL54L15 Development Kit

Metirionic’s MARS now runs on the Ezurio BL54L15 Series platform, enabling high-accuracy Bluetooth® Channel Sounding and advanced ranging features. This kit combines Bluetooth® LE, IEEE 802.15.4, and NFC, making it an excellent choice for RTLS, asset tracking, and industrial IoT applications.

Fanstel BM15 Series (BM15C / BM15E / BM15M)

Metirionic’s MARS now supports the Fanstel BM15 Series modules, including BM15C (chip antenna), BM15E (u.FL connector), and BM15M (PCB antenna), all powered by the Nordic nRF54L15 SoC—a multi‑protocol solution (BLE, Thread, Zigbee, Matter, proprietary) ideal for high‑accuracy ranging, RTLS, asset tracking, and industrial IoT applications. These modules include integrated security features, ample memory, and ultra‑low‑power performance.
